OmniTurn offers two types of kits. The pricing structure for the two types are different due to the amount of work needed to complete the retrofit. The manual machines are relativly simple and can be done by the end user or OmniTurn. The fully automatic lathes require additional effort and we suggest that you let us do the installation since we can get it done in a minumum of time at a more efficient price than you could.

  • For Hardinge manual lathes: DSM, DSM-R, DV-59, HSL, HC, HLV, HLV-H, TFB
    • With this type of installation, you can start off with the simple slide and control and add to it as needed. All items are optional and with the exception of the C axis spindle drive, they can be added at any time.
    • The installation can be done by the end user or you can contract OmniTurn to do it. In most cases, the installation takes only from a few hours to a day. Technical support and phone assistance are readily available for those attempting to do it themselves.

The basic OmniTurn kit for manual lathes includes the following:

  • 2 axis slide with mounting hardware
    • 12" x 5" of travel
    • 3/8" or 1/2" center height, specify at time of order
  • 2 axis OmniTurn control with mounting hardware

Attachments for automatic lathes
For either hydraulic, NC, or CNC machines that are getting completely converted: AHC, ASM, DSMA, CHNC, HNC
    • The hydraulic and NC, and CNC machines that are converted have to have more complete installations. This is due to the fact that all of the spindle, coolant and collet controls that were on the machine before are removed. When one of these machines is retrofitted, there is very little left of the old machine except for the bed, head, spindle, collet closer, and coolant pump.
    • The installation of this type is normally done by OmniTurn. We have done hundreds of these and can do it in a day or two. The installation is done on your floor. There is no need to ship the machine anywhere.
    • The price quoted below includes all labor and parts. Travel expenses are billed at net cost after the installation has been completed.

The OmniTurn kits for automatic lathes includes the following:

  • 5hp spindle drive controls with enclosure for existing motor, see below for new motor cost
  • New electric control of existing coolant pump
